ACTION INDIA AIDS PROJECT, New Delhi is committed to working towards awareness, prevention, care and support and the management of HIV diseasee: 
 

The Aims of the project are:

 
  • To provide medical and nursing care, support and counseling to the  people living with HIV/AIDS and enable them to cope  and live positively with HIV/AIDS

  • To provide the best of diagnosis and treatment and make ‘ anti-retroviral’ medicine available for people living with HIV/AIDS through donor support and lobbying  with the government

  • To create public awareness of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and educate youth about various issues related to HIV/AIDS; design programs to prevent the spread HIV/AIDS with focus on high-risk population.

  • To promote empowerment of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) & set up programs for income generation & rehabilitation of those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Objectives :
 
  • To promote a society where people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and their families can live productive lives, free from fear, from discrimination and undue physical and mental suffering, where their rights are protected and they receive necessary welfare and social support needed to maintain their livelihoods and their dignity as individuals and families. 

  • To assist in the prevention and control of HIV and thus minimize the spread of HIV and serve as a forum for exchange of information in collaboration with HIV/AIDS service Organization through effective and non-discriminative information, education and communication approaches with other agencies involved in the HIV/AIDS field. 

  • Establish a Mobile Health Team – a mobile Action Team for health care activities, running a mobile HIV/AIDS clinic and counseling team to provide home – based care services for PLWHA. The Health Task Force will help disseminate authoritative and current information on HIV/AIDS.

  • To advocate for the rights of HIV/AIDS infected and affected and fight against discrimination to person with HIV/AIDS. 

  • To be open for Alternative and other complementary therapies in AIDS care such as Naturopathy, Ayurvedic medicine, Homeopathy, Aromatherapy, Massage and Touch therapies, Reflexology, Swedish massage, Therapeutic touch, Reiki, Shiatsu, Yoga, Exercise, meditation, Herbal medicine, Nutritional approaches, dietary requirements. 

  • To encourage and develop culturally acceptable and appropriate programs those reduce high- risk behaviors. 

  • To organize various programs and activities relating to HIV transmission and preventive methods and to diffuse the knowledge about the diseases and also provide family training in medical first aid and counseling services. To establish harm reduction programmes, day care facilities, midway homes. 

  • To conduct research and to organize seminars and workshops on HIV and AIDS. 

  • To establish, promote, set up, run, maintain, assist, support or help and network with various other HIV/AIDS organizations and charitable, educational, technical and non technical, vocational and community development programs and training courses for health care providers and workers related with AIDS and create a database of information. 

  • To promote care and support to people living with HIV/AIDS and enable them to live positively with the disease and improve the quality of life for people living with HIV/AIDS.

  •  To work towards strengthening and extending the network and capacity of NGOs working in the HIV/AIDS field and PHWLA groups to promote a society that understands, accepts and supports the cause of persons living with HIV/AIDS and their families.
