Piot, Executive Director, UNAIDS visited ‘Ashraya’ in
July, 2003. Incidentally ‘Ashraya’ was the only Care Home
he visited during his stay in India. He was visibly moved and impressed
by the services provided and later remarked in an interview “the
world needs hundreds of Ashrayas in order to control the HIV epidemic
and make a difference in the true spirit”. This is no small
achievement for us given the fact that we work under dwarfing financial
constraints with a skeletal staff. It has been our motivation and
an apt reward for all the hard work we have put in to rise above ordinary
and strive to excel.
Ashraya’ has
been visited by people from various walks of life who have been very
appreciative of the work being done by us. We are grateful to all
who have taken out time to share some moments with us and People living
